The Chinese Navy training ship Qi Jiguang arrived at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Tuesday morning, beginning its three-day visit to the Vietnamese coastal city.
The vessel carries a crew of 476 officers, sailors, and cadets from the Dalian Naval Academy, under the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
The crew is led by Major General Su Yinsheng, political commissar at the academy.
The Chinese delegation will pay courtesy visits to the Navy Region 3 Command under the Vietnam People’s Navy, the Military Region 5 High Command, and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City.
They are also scheduled to visit some popular tourist attractions in the city such as Son Tra Peninsula and Linh Ung Pagoda, in addition to meeting with some Chinese businesses and institutions in neighboring Quang Nam Province.
They will also take part in exchange activities with the Navy Region 3 Command.
After wrapping up the visit on Thursday, the Qi Jiguang vessel will participate in a joint drill with the Navy Region 3 Command.
This Chinese training ship, which was assigned to the Dalian Naval Academy, is 163 meters long and 22 meters wide, with a full loaded displacement of 9,000 metric tons and a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
