Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang hosted a welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday morning.

The Vietnamese government leader arrived in Beijing on Sunday to start his four-day visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.

This is PM Chinh’s first visit to China since he took office in April 2021.

The Vietnamese prime minister’s entourage includes Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister - Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

The welcome ceremony was also attended by many Chinese officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Qin Gang, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission Zheng Shanjie, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, among others.

PM Chinh's visit to China is aimed at marking the 15th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.

After the welcome ceremony wrapped up, the two prime ministers held talks, with the participation of the top officials of the two nations.

The two leaders witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation agreements on maritime environment development, trade activities, and smart border gate construction.

After these programs, the Vietnamese prime minister and his entourage will leave Beijing for Tianjin, a coastal metropolis in northern China, to attend the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The top Vietnamese official will also sit in on a Vietnam - WEF national strategic dialogue, and meet with WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab.

Within the framework of the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum held on Tuesday, the Vietnamese prime minister will take part in various activities and meet the leaders of several nations and Chinese firms.
