Minh Triet Center, a research organization under the Vietnam Union of Scientific and Technical Associations, is preparing to award prominent studies on the East Sea carried out by Vietnamese researchers. Yesterday the center held a meeting with scientists to discuss its plan to award valuable scientific works or articles on the East Sea, as part of the center’s program titled “Minh triết làm chủ biển Đông” (Wisdom for protection of sovereignty in the East Sea.” The program’s objectives are to promote studies on the East Sea so that such studies can be published by prestigious scientific magazines in the world, supporting researchers both materially and spiritually, and enhancing public awareness of East Sea issues through media activities, Phap Luat Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh (Ho Chi Minh City Law) Newspaper quoted researcher Nguyen Khac Mai, the center’s director, as saying. The program has initially gathered a number of experts, researchers and advisers, including Dr Dinh Hoang Thang, Prof. Nguyen Dang Hung (in Belgium), Dr Nguyen Dinh Loc, former Justice Minister, Pham Quoc Anh, president of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association, Dr Nguyen Vi Khai, Dr. To Duy Hop and many other scientists, Mai told the newspaper. The meeting’s attendants also agreed to set up groups of researchers to carry out studies on sea economics, sea science and culture, and other topics.
