26-year-old Russian tourist Andrey Dubiwin drowned while swimming in the sea at the Ganh Mui Ne Resort in Phan Thiet City, central Binh Thuan Province, on Monday. The deadly incident occurred at 11:30 am on December 3, when rescuers heard cries for help from two Russian nationals who were friends with Andrey, a businessman.

The three visitors had gone to the resort to swim, and Andrey’s friends shouted for help when they found him drowning.

A motorboat and rescuers were sent to the scene to take Andrey ashore. Despite the efforts of the rescuers, who gave Andrey emergency aid, the victim died soon afterwards.

A similar incident occurred on May 24 at My Khe beach in the central city of Da Nang, where 41-year-old Mollo Francois, a Belgian, drowned while swimming with his friends. The tragedy took place at dawn when Francois was washed away by strong currents, and his body was recovered later by rescuers around 250 meters away from the shore. In late March, two South Korean men also drowned after they went swimming in the sea at Nghinh Phong beach in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
