Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 10:37 GMT+7

The Express Customs Services Sub-Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has discovered 6 daggers and 4 stun guns hidden inside 3 packages sent by post from the US to Vietnam. The discovery was made yesterday when the sub-department, in conjunction with staff of the branch of the Post &Telecom Express Service JSC, was carrying out customs clearance procedures for the parcels that were sent by air from a single sender in Santa Rosa, California, to three different recipients with the same address in HCMC’s Binh Thanh District. Customs officers decided to open the parcels for inspection after finding some suspicious signs, although these parcels were packed as normal, the sub-department said. The weapons were found hidden among common consumer items such as clothing, towels, DVDs, books, flashlights, and stuffed toys.

The parcels, which were declared by the sender as gifts, had made a transit in Hong Kong before being forwarded to Vietnam. The sub-department has seized all the weapons for handling in accordance with applicable regulations.
