A prostitute has been arrested for suffocating and electrocuting a young male client to rob him of his asset, the Binh Tan District police in Ho Chi Minh City said on Saturday.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, 24, was detained on Friday afternoon on charges of murder and robbery.

According to the police, around 1.30am on Friday, while Linh was picking up clients at a roundabout on the district’s Kinh Duong Vuong street, T. H. H, 24, approached her.

H. agreed to give Linh VND250 (US$10) in return for sex and the two came to a hotel numbered 102-104 Do Nang Te in the same district.

During sexual intercourse, Linh concocted a scheme to kill H. and rob him.

She bound H.’s arms with cloth strings from her coat and tied his long-sleeved shirt on top of the cloth strings.

Linh then went on to have sex with H. and stealthily wrapped an electricity wire around his neck.

Suddenly she pulled hard on the two strings, suffocating H., who stayed motionless after struggling to escape for a while.

Without mercy, Linh electrocuted H. using the electricity wire of a lamp in the room, causing him to convulse for another while before dying.

After killing H., Linh left with his VND1 million (US$47) and a Samsung cellphone.

She used H.’s cellphone to call Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, 29, to pick her up. Linh gave Tam half the sum and the cellphone, telling Tam she had stolen them from one of her clients.

The local police apprehended Linh around 3pm the same day, and she admitted to her crime.

Tam was also arrested later and is charged with refusing to denounce Linh’s crime and consuming stolen property.
