Typhoon Maysak is weakening fast as it moves toward the East Vietnam Sea and will likely further abate and blow itself out amidst the sea, Vietnam’s national weather forecast agency said on Saturday.

Hoang Duc Cuong, director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that the storm’s most powerful phase has been over and it is subsiding fast while approaching the East Vietnam Sea.

It is forecast that after crossing the northern area of the Luzon Archipelago off the Philippines on Sunday, the storm will possibly clear up and blow itself out in the East Vietnam Sea.

By Saturday night, Tropical Storm Maysak had been brewing around 350 kilometers east-southeast of the Luzon Archipelago.

Peak gusts in the areas near the eye of the storm were recorded at 103-117 kilometers per hour.

The storm, named after a tree grown in Cambodia, has brought inauspicious weather to the sea, particularly in the areas near its eye.

On Saturday, roughly 24,000 residents in Aurora Province, the Philippines were urgently evacuated as Typhoon Maysak was raging in the waters near the Luzon Archipelago.
