Two Russian airlines are planning to launch direct flights linking several cities in Russia and Cam Ranh City in south-central Vietnam in early March, the Cam Ranh International Airport authority said on Saturday.
Russian airline Azur Air has revealed plans to open direct air routes from Russia to Cam Ranh, which is a city in Khanh Hoa Province, from March.
Accordingly, direct flights arriving in Cam Ranh City will depart Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, and other cities in Russia.
Besides, another Russian air carrier Aeroflot is set to open a direct air route between Moscow and Cam Ranh next month.
The airline will operate two weekly flights departing Sheremetyevo International Airport for the Vietnamese city.
The launch will mark Khanh Hoa Province as Aeroflot’s second destination in Vietnam from Moscow, after the operational Moscow-Ho Chi Minh City direct air route.
Russia is Khanh Hoa’s traditional tourism source market, but due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, direct flights between Russia and the province have been suspended since early 2022.
Russian tourists wishing to visit Khanh Hoa have made layovers in some countries such as Kazakhstan and China.
The projected opening of these direct air routes between Russia and Khanh Hoa will increase Russian tourist arrivals and help fuel tourism development in the province, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
Azur Air is the largest charter carrier in Russia, operating flights from 40 cities in the country to 29 international destinations.
