A Taiwanese fishing vessel carrying four crew members was discovered drifting off the coast of Phu Yen Province in south-central Vietnam on Saturday afternoon.
Local border guards quickly responded to rescue the stranded individuals.
The Phu Yen Provincial Border Guard Command announced on Saturday night that border guards received a report at 5:00 pm the same day from Truong Van Loc, a 33-year-old resident of Hoa Hiep Nam Ward in Dong Hoa Town, on spotting a foreign fishing boat adrift in the waters.
The vessel was identified as a Taiwanese fishing boat, measuring 22 meters in length and equipped with a 450-horsepower engine.

Local border guards promptly assessed the situation and observed the boat, which was found approximately one nautical mile from the coast of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward in the town.
At 6:00 pm, some border guards managed to safely bring the crew members ashore.
The crew consisted of three Taiwanese nationals, Luo Wen Jiun, 61, Jia Ming, 42, and Hwang Jiun Cherw, 23, as well as one Vietnamese national, Luu Van Binh, a 43-year-old resident of Nghe An Province in north-central Vietnam.
They were provided with medical checkups and accommodations at Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station, while the fishing boat remained stranded on the coast.
Authorities are coordinating with translators to gather initial information from the crew and to conduct necessary procedures.
