Police are hunting for two men who robbed a driver when he was sleeping in his truck in the south-central province of Binh Thuan early Thursday.

The robbers stabbed Luong Van Linh, who was resting in his truck on the National Highway No.1, and left after taking away his money at 3:30 am, according to footage recorded by the security camera of a nearby company.

The 21-year-old driver later said he was robbed of VND60 million (US$2,760).

Linh was sleeping in the cabin of his car, parked near Ca Ty Bridge in the province’s Phan Thiet City, when the men approached him on a motorbike, according to the video seen by Tuoi Tre News.

One of them then broke into the cabin while the other waited on the bike.

A local suddenly appeared and turned his flashlight to the front of the truck, apparently because he detected the robbery.

The man on the motorbike immediately directed the light beam of his vehicle’s headlight to ‘fight’ that of the flashlight, before jumping into the cabin to attack the driver.

The two robbers left the truck and fled on their bike following the assault.

The driver managed to get off the cabin and tried to chase after his attackers, but fell to ground shortly after that.

He eventually managed to come to a nearby house to call for help.

The robbers remain at large as of Saturday morning.
