-- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested at a seminar on Tuesday that the death toll from traffic accidents be cut down to 5,000 people from the current 9,000 people each year for the 2016-20 period.

-- Police in Guro District in Seoul, South Korea on Monday found the bodies of a 51-year-old Korean man, his 31-year-old Vietnamese wife and their 6-year-old daughter. According to Vietnam News Agency, local police revealed that the man had been found hanging, while the woman and little girl had both suffocated.

-- The Ministry of Transport has opened two pedestrian tunnels, Phuoc Tuong and Phu Gia, to traffic since Monday. The two new tunnels, which cost VND1.74 trillion (US$76.2 million) to build, are located around three kilometers to the north of Hai Van Tunnel, the longest of its kind in Southeast Asia, which links the two central cities of Da Nang and Hue.

-- The immigration department of Da Nang City announced on Tuesday that they had forced 64 Chinese nationals illegally working in the city on tourist visas to leave Vietnam. The municipal police have also proposed fining the foreigners VND15 million ($656) each.

-- The People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has proposed that the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam People's Navy put a stop to sand mining activities on Phu Quoc Island, as it has caused coastal erosion.

-- According to customs officers at Da Nang International Airport located in Da Nang City, two guns were detected in an unclaimed package on a flight bound for the city from Incheon, South Korea on Friday night last week.

-- Police officers in Hanoi on Tuesday seized a 45-year-old man for stabbing a father and his son to death while injuring two other family members after the man was caught red-handed breaking into and robbing their house, located in the outlying district of Thach That.

-- Police on Tuesday discovered a large amount of salbutamol, a lean-meat agent that helps pigs gain weight in no time, while the banned substance was being transported in Ho Chi Minh City.

-- The Vietnam Airport Traffic Management on Tuesday welcomed the 600,000th safe flight in 2015 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

-- A music performance, slated to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday next week, will raise funds for local children with cancer and help turn their Christmas wishes into reality. The event is a years-long initiative of a Vietnamese entrepreneur, which has also been enthusiastically supported by approximately 500 businesspeople.
