Legislators will discuss and decide on high-ranking personnel for the state among other issues during the session, which closes on July 29.Society -- Two people, including a 3-year-old child, were killed in a head-on crash between a truck and a tipper lorry in Binh Duong Province, approximately 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, on Tuesday. -- Police in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, are detaining five suspects who turned themselves in after stabbing two young men to death on Sunday last week.       -- The Immigration Management Department under the Ministry of Public Security and police in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau held a seminar on Tuesday to pilot an Internet-based system of temporary residence records for expats in the province before implementing it nationwide. -- The investigative agency under the Ministry of Public Security is holding three suspects residing in Ho Chi Minh City for attempting to send 400 grams of heroin to Australia by post in April. -- A former employee at the Binh Tan District Land Registration Office in Ho Chi Minh City received a 18-month jail term during a court hearing on Tuesday for demanding over US$7,200 as bribes from a building permit applicant in December 2015. -- A 42-year-old male taxi driver was found dead with three stabs in his body on Tuesday in an alleged robbery happening earlier the same day in Cam Le District, according to police in the central city of Da Nang. -- Customs officers at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City said they had seized 15 kilograms of chopped African elephant tusks, worth around VND1 billion ($44,115), which had been illegally shipped from the Czech Republic.

Business -- Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee pledged further support for young entrepreneurs and startup owners during a dialogue on Tuesday. -- Low-cost carrier Vietjet has announced the launch of yet another zero-fare promotion campaign applicable from Wednesday, with one million tickets priced only from US$0 on all domestic flights up for grabs. The promotion closes on Friday.
