Two kindergarten teachers in Hanoi have been suspended after their beating of students was filmed and uploaded on social media.
The teachers were caught on tape slapping, scolding and hitting their students with slippers at Sao Vang Kindergarten in Hai Ba Trung District.
The kindergarten is a privately-owned facility managed by the administration of the district’s Minh Khai Ward, according to Tran Luu Hoa, education chief of Hai Ba Trung District.
A clip posted on social media on Sunday showed a teacher at Sen Vang hitting one of her students twice in the head with a slipper, before the boy was taken into the bathroom to be cleaned while still crying.
The boy had reportedly peed in his pants prior to the assault.
Another boy appearing later in the footage could be seen crying his lungs out as a teacher dragged him by the ear and pushed him with her knee to enter a room.

In a written statement on Sunday, the teachers admitted to the violent treatment of the students as showed in the footage, blaming the kids’ crying for their “inappropriate behaviors.”
Representatives from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the Minh Khai Ward administration and the kindergarten’s owner as well as other relevant parties had a meeting on Monday morning to determine disciplinary actions against the teachers.
Many parents whose kids were attending the kindergarten have refused to send their children back to school until further notice is given.
