-- Following heavy rains, scorching heat is forecast to overwhelm northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, with temperatures between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
-- Police in Hanoi have arrested a 24-year-old man for hitting a police officer with a golf club after being pursued for his traffic violations.

-- Statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that country’s fertilizer exports in the first half of 2017 were worth $125.3 million, up 36.37 percent year-on-year.
-- As Chinese authorities increased tax duty on glutinous rice imported from Vietnam, Chinese buyers have been paying less money for the product to make up for the tariff, which does not benefit Vietnamese producers. Glutinous rice’s price has dropped from $480 to $430 per metric ton.
