Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued warnings for the chairman and vice-chairman of the central province of Quang Nam as a form of discipline for their inappropriate recruitment and appointment of local administrative personnel.
Dinh Van Thu and Huynh Khanh Toan, who are chairman and vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for the 2016-21 tenure, have recently been warned by the head of government for their violations.
Thu and Toan were previously sanctioned by the Party and the Central Inspection Committee.
According to results of inspection, Thu, as the chairman of the Quang Nam administration and deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee, appointed his two sons, Dinh Van Vu, 36, and Dinh Van Bao, 30, as officials of local departments.
The two received their posts without having to pass mandatory examinations as promulgated in regulations on the recruitment of public servants.
Thu also allowed the provincial People’s Committee to recruit multiple personnel without requiring them to pass the compulsory tests.

Meanwhile, Toan, Thu’s deputy, had to take responsibility for letting the violations in personnel recruitment happen within the provincial administration.
The vice-chairman was sanctioned for recruiting public servants without any examination, and appointing incompetent personnel, including children of local leaders.
Among them, Le Phuoc Hoai Bao, son of Le Phuoc Thanh, former secretary of the Quang Nam Party Committee, became the director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, thanks to his help.
In mid- February, Bao’s Party membership was removed due to multiple violations during his time in office.
He was also given a temporary suspension from work while waiting for disciplinary actions of his wrongdoings.
