A female police officer is recovering after an explosion rocked a ward-level police station in Ho Chi Minh City.
Preliminary information showed that the blast occurred in front of the police station in Ward 12, Tan Binh District at around 2:15 pm on Wednesday.
Authorities suspect the explosion might have been caused by a motorbike parked in the front of the facility, but an investigation is still ongoing.
The injured female officer was standing near the explosion and was injured by a shock wave caused by the blast.
She was immediately transferred to the hospital for treatment.
Two other male officers admitted to the hospital following the blast were cleared by doctors that same day, according to a source close to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

Local residents shared that they heard two explosions in the vicinity of the police station.
Police are still unclear if the motorbike exploded spontaneously or if the blast was caused by an external factor, though a source close to the matter said later on Thursday morning that the second scenario appears to be the case.

Two unidentified men, traveling on a motorcycle, had thrown an object toward the motorbike parked in front of the police station prior to the blast, the source told Tuoi Tre, citing CCTV footage and eyewitnesses’ statements.
The Ward 12 police station is situated on Truong Chinh Street, between the headquarters of the Tan Binh District’s Fatherland Front Committee and the ward’s military command.
