Business magazine Forbes Vietnam revealed on Monday its list of the 50 most influential women in Vietnam in 2019.

The “50 Most Influential Vietnamese Women 2019” list, the second of its kind, names women working in a wide range of fields, namely politics, science-education, social work, communications, arts, creativity, and sports.

Twenty of the 50 women honored are entrepreneurs, including Tran Thi Le, general director of Nutifood Nutrition Food JSC; Le Minh Trang, general director of Saigon Trading Group; and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, general director of budget airline Vietjet and chairwoman of HD Bank.

Among the female entrepreneurs, 40 percent were named for the first time, while some, including general director of Vinamilk Mai Kieu Lien, chairwoman of REE Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh, and chairwoman of PNJ Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, continued their presence from the previous list.

“This has shown the firmness, tenacity, and great influence of these leading businesswomen,” said managing editor of Forbes Vietnam Vo Quoc Khanh.

Huong Giang, who was crowned the 2018 Miss International Queen, a transgender beauty pageant, was honored for her social activities.

Forbes Vietnamfirst released its “50 Most Influential Vietnamese Women” list in 2017.

The magazine, which launched its Vietnamese edition in 2013, said it used its own methodology to select the country's powerful women.

Among the criteria are the positive impacts the women have on the economy, society and community.
