-- Two men were found dead from an alleged drug overdose on the edge of a forest in Quynh Luu District in the north-central province of Nghe An on Wednesday morning.

-- There have been 198 traffic accidents, 133 casualties, and 174 injured people during the past seven days of the Lunar New Year holiday, according to Vietnam's National Traffic Safety Committee.

-- A passenger bus stalled on a section of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway in southern Vietnam, causing serious congestion for a few hours on Wednesday evening when droves of people returned to Ho Chi Minh City after the Tet, or Lunar New Year, holiday.

-- Authorities in Hoi An City, home to the namesake UNESCO-recognized ancient town in the central province of Quang Nam, have been giving away free masks to tourists since Tuesday in the context of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak.

-- A Facebook user was summoned by authorities in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on Wednesday for spreading false news on the most popular social media site in Vietnam that one Chinese national infected with the 2019-nCoV was being quarantined at a local hospital.

-- Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport on Wednesday afternoon suspended all flights to areas with confirmed cases of the 2019-nCoV in China.

-- The Nguyen Hue Book Street, stretching from the Nguyen Hue intersection with Ngo Duc Ke Street to Mac Thi Buoi Street in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, generated some VND3.6 billion (US$155,553) in revenue after its seven days of opening from January 22 to 28 during this Tet, up 28.5 percent year-on-year.
