-- Nguyen Van Yen, former deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, has been arrested and put under investigation in a case involving the appropriation of government’s classified information in Hanoi and other cities and provinces, the Ministry of Public Security said on Tuesday.
Society
-- Muong Thanh Group, a well-known Vietnamese contractor, has already dismantled over half of the illegally constructed volume at the Muong Thanh Hotel Complex - Son Tra luxury apartment project in Da Nang City and has requested permission to retain the remaining unlawfully built portion instead of demolishing it.
-- Authorities in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on Tuesday imposed a fine of VND63 million (US$2,474) on an army lieutenant colonel who was found intoxicated while driving and involved in a hit-and-run accident that injured a woman. His driver's license has been suspended for 24 months.
-- Four vehicles collided in succession on Phu My Bridge, which connects District 7 and Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City, causing a prolonged traffic jam and disrupting traffic flow in both directions on Tuesday afternoon.
Business
-- The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City signed multiple memoranda of understanding on investment cooperation in technology, tourism, education, and health during a business investment promotion conference in the south-central Vietnamese province on Tuesday.
At the event, Payyaula Sai Venkat Kisshan, chairman of the Indian Robotics Association, expressed his intention to establish an innovative science center in the province aimed at enhancing technological education for students and fostering the development of robotics.
-- The People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province of Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China jointly held a launching ceremony to officially open the border gate pair of Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) – Dongzhong (China) in Quang Ninh’s Binh Lieu District on Tuesday.
-- State-owned lender Agribank has announced the auction of debts owed by several companies involved in the Hoang Hai tourist complex project located at Duong Bao Hamlet, Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc City, off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam. The auction is scheduled for Thursday.
