Hundreds of young people in Da Nang City, central Vietnam have collected water hyacinth to clear the water flow in a lake in the city since last weekend.
They will do the job in the Bau Tre Lake in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District until Wednesday due to the huge volume of water hyacinth, according to the municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
This is an activity of the city’s summer volunteer campaign.
In particular, nearly 400 volunteers who were equipped with life jackets, rakes, small boats, and ropes waded in the lake to collect water hyacinth on Sunday.
They brought a large volume of water hyacinth onto the banks of the lake.

The Bau Tre Lake, covering approximately 20,000 square meters, is often overgrown with water hyacinth and other plants, obstructing the water flow into rice fields.
Local residents had hoped for the removal of the water hyacinth from the lake, so the young's recent efforts were met with praise.
Their actions have contributed to cleaning polluted areas and protecting urban landscapes in the central coastal city.
