A hit-and-run caused by a seven-seater car killed three women on the spot in the northern province of Phu Tho in the early hours of Tuesday.

The fatal accident happened at around 1:00 am on Tuesday, according to the Traffic Safety Committee of Phu Tho Province.

Three women, who were later identified as H.T.H. from Lao Cai Province, L.T.C. from Tuyen Quang Province, and D.T.N. from Ha Giang Province, were traveling on a motorbike on National Highway 2 when they were involved in a collision with a seven-seater car.

The hard crash knocked all three down, killing them on the spot.

The car driver did not stop the vehicle to check on the women but accelerated to run away from the scene.

The seven-seater was later found abandoned at a roundabout a few kilometers from the crash site.

Police officers are investigating the case.
