Two tractor-trailers were on fire after a sideswipe collision on Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway on Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, the crash happened around 5:00 am Tuesday on the expressway section through Ben Luc District of southern Long An Province.
A tractor-trailer was steering right when it collided slightly with another, which was trying to overtake it.
The impact sparked fire and set the two trucks ablaze.
The incident led to prolonged traffic congestion on the expressway heading to Long An Province from Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile, rescue vehicles and traffic police took as long as two hours to arrive at the scene as the emergency lane specified for them was appropriated by civilian traffic.
By the time of their arrival, the cabin of one of the trucks was almost burned down with part of its metal structure left.
The truck drivers and their assistants all escaped the vehicles in time. By 8:00 am, traffic on the expressway had returned to normal state.
