The construction of the Ben Thanh metro station in downtown Ho Chi Minh City has reached 85.7 percent completion, currently mobilizing over 900 builders and engineers on back-to-back shifts.

The Ben Thanh Central Metro Station in District 1 will serve as the terminal for four lines, including Line No. 1, which stretches to Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City; Line No. 2, which connects with Tham Luong Bridge in District 12; and Line No. 3a, a route that links the city’s downtown with the Western Bus Station in Binh Tan District.

It will also serve as a stop for Line No. 4, which will go from District 12 to the Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District.

The underground complex, which is located in front of Ben Thanh Market, is equipped with six entrances that lead commuters up to buildings on the ground.

The station underneath the Municipal Theater will be 33 meters deep and feature four levels, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR).

Nguyen Tan Hoang, an engineer working onsite, said the construction workforce is prioritizing three components, including the skylight window, the top floor, and the entrances of the Ben Thanh Metro Central Station.

While the Ben Thanh terminal and the underground railway near Le Loi Street was 85.7 percent complete, the general progress on Line No. 1 is also inching toward completion with 82.9 percent of the work done, a MAUR official revealed.
