— Vietnam on Tuesday afternoon reported 11 new imported cases of COVID-19, increasing the country’s tally to 2,648 with 2,422 recoveries, according to the Ministry of Health.

— Two fire trucks and dozens of firefighters were mobilized on Tuesday night to extinguish a fire at the local residential area near Bac Cai Dam Market in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.

— Ho Chi Minh City expects to basically finish its flood control project on Nguyen Huu Canh Street, which stretches 3.2km from District 1 to Binh Thanh District, by the end of this month after nearly a year and a half of construction, the city’s Management Board on Traffic Work Construction Investment said on Tuesday.

— Police in the northern province of Hai Duong said on Tuesday that they had recently broken up a ring to bring people illegally to Vietnam and arrested a number of suspects.

— The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport’s division of driving test and license management on Tuesday said they had inspected 332 driver's licenses and detected 71 fake ones since the beginning of this year.

— Ho Chi Minh City has recently seen an increase of hand, foot, and mouth disease cases, with 40 children being treated at the Children's Hospital 1 and 36 others at the Children's Hospital 2.

Business

— The Vietnam Salt One Member Limited Liability Company (Visalco) will put nearly 1.28 million shares up for sale at its initial public offering (IPO) on April 12, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday.

— The export of fruit and vegetables reeled in about US$944 million in the first quarter of 2021, up 6.1 percent from the same period last year, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday, quoting the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency of Foreign Trade.

Lifestyle

— 'Bo Gia' (Old Dad), a movie starring and co-directed by famed comedian Tran Thanh, on Monday reached VND400 billion ($17.4 million) in revenue, cementing its position as the Vietnamese movie with the biggest domestic grossing of all time. The movie first claimed the title in March when it grossed over VND200 billion.

Sports

— More than 2,500 people have registered to participate in the Ba Den Mountain Marathon 2021 held by the southern province of Tay Ninh’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on April 24 and 25.
