Many people congregated on downtown streets in Da Nang to go angling when rainwater began to rise, flooding reservoirs and many roads on Sunday afternoon.
Ham Nghi Street in Thanh Khe District attracted some dozens of people who came to catch the fish that escaped from the nearby Thac Gian regulating reservoir.
In raincoats, they lined up down the street and used bamboo traps for fishing.
Most people did it for fun as their catches were mostly small tilapia fish that are not suitable for food, according to Do Van Manh, one of the fishers.
Rainwater also overran other streets, including Hung Vuong, Nguyen Van Linh, Le Dinh Ly, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Le Duan on Sunday.
Many households and stores were splashed by cars despite attempting to waterproof their facilities.
It is common for the area, which is low-lying, to be flooded following heavy rains, according to Nguyen Thi Hanh, an employee of a mother and baby care shop on Hung Vuong Street.
Many households on Ham Nghi Street, meanwhile, parked all cars on the sidewalks and high places to avoid inundation, drawing experience from a serious flood at the end of 2018.

Rainwater poured into several households located down alleyways along Thai Thi Boi Street, damaging their furniture.
As it was one of the early rains of the season, rainwater washed away a large amount of waste that blocked drains and prevented the water from going to drainage systems, according to Viet Hung, a resident of Thai Thi Boi Street.
“Whenever it rains for more than 30 minutes, I have to unclog the drains,” Hung said, adding that it takes about two hours for the water to drain out.
Local functional forces had to use rubber boats to take residents in deeply flooded houses to safety.
Many alleys on Trung Nu Vuong Street in Hai Chau District were also submerged in more than one meter of rainwater on Sunday.
However, as soon as the rain stopped, the water level receded quickly.
