Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a delegation of high-ranking officials offered incense at the Hung Kings Temple in northern Phu Tho Province on the occasion of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day.

President Phuc and officials from the Party, state, and authorities in Phu Tho Province paid homage to the Hung Kings at the historical relic site on Sunday morning.

About 1,000 people including military and police officers and youth union members were mobilized to ensure order and security during the incense offering ceremony.

As the ceremony took place from 7:00 to 9:00 am, visitors to the Hung Kings Temple during these hours were advised to offer joss sticks at the Lac Long Quan and Au Co Temples to avoid crowds and jostling.

The festival at the Hung Kings Temple was expected to welcome a lot of visitors this year as it takes place during the new normal period after a serious COVID-19 outbreak, said Le Truong Giang, director of the relic site.

The management board has coordinated with relevant authorities in Phu Tho to ensure safety for participants and minimize congestion, Giang added.

Hung Kings is the title given to the ancient Vietnamese rulers of the Hong Bang period (2879-258 BC).

The Hung Kings Commemoration Day takes place on the 10th day of the third lunar month, which falls on April 10 this year.
