Entertainment parks, shopping malls, and fairs in Ho Chi Minh City attracted a large number of visitors on Sunday - this year’s Hung Kings Commemoration Day.
The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Vincom shopping mall, Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, Binh Quoi Tourist Village in Binh Thanh District, and Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City were among the favorite destinations.
The crowds consisted of not only residents of Ho Chi Minh City but also those from localities that provide convenient travel to the southern metropolis and a return within the day.
Notably, the Dam Sen Cultural Park welcomed more than 4,000 visitors within two hours after its opening on Sunday morning, according to a spokesperson.
The number was estimated to reach 8,000, four to five times higher than usual, by the end of the day.

Binh Quoi Tourist Village also saw a surge in visitors, to around 1,200 guests, on Sunday as it offered a buffet party.
Supermarkets such as Emart, MM Mega Market, and AEON Mall were also busier than normal as their discount and promotion programs brought in the customers.
Hung Kings is the title given to the ancient Vietnamese rulers of the Hong Bang period (2879-258 BC).
The Hung Kings Commemoration Day takes place on the 10th day of the third lunar month, which fell on April 10 this year.
Public workers in Vietnam are enjoying three days off from Saturday to Monday to celebrate the day.
