Two Vietnamese artists, famous in Vietnam, were arrested in Spain last weekend due to an accusation of having raped a 17-year-old British girl, according to reports by British and Spanish newspapers.
The two, an actor and a musician aged 37 and 42, appeared in court on Tuesday, according the Majorca Daily Bulletin, a local newspaper of the holiday island of Majorca, where the sex attack was said to have taken place.
They were released on bail, but their passports were withdrawn.
The British girl gave a statement to the court, verifying what she had reported to police officers.
Accordingly, the two men were staying at a hotel in Sant Elm.
The girl and her family were at a different hotel.
They met at a restaurant on Friday night last week.
They struck up a conversation and drank together.
Some time later, the three went to the beach, where they began to get intimate.
They then went to the hotel room of one of the men, which was where the alleged rape took place.
The girl explained to officers that the two men, after forcing her to have sex, made her to take a shower to eliminate evidence.
The girl then told her aunt what had happened.
A patrol went to their hotel and she was examined later at Son Espases Hospital.
The girl and her family left Majorca later on Tuesday.
Respected island newspaper Ultima Hora of Majorca reported the alleged rapists are “an actor and a musician with a long professional career in Vietnam.”
Neither of the two men arrested has yet been named, according to British news site Daily Mail.
They have also been banned from leaving Spain.
Spanish reports said the two artists declined to answer questions when they appeared before the investigating judge shortly after their arrests.
It is unclear weather the 37-year-old actor and the 42-year-old musician held over the alleged sex attack had been on holiday in Majorca or had traveled to the island for business reasons.
