A young man was detained several hours after he stole a motorcycle from the residence of a police officer in Vietnam’s central Quang Nam Province on Sunday, local police have reported.

The provincial police announced on Tuesday that they had arrested 21-year-old Ho Ngoc Truong, a local resident, while he was traveling on a motorbike on Nguyen Van Troi Street in Tan Thanh Ward in the province’s Tam Ky City two days ago.

At 1:00 pm on Sunday, a police team was performing a duty on the street when they found Truong riding the motorbike whose license plate is the same as that of the bike one of their colleagues had lost in a home theft on Sunday morning.

The team immediately approached Truong and forced him to pull over before arresting him and handing him along with the vehicle over to Tan Thanh police.

Truong then pleaded guilty to stealing the vehicle at around 8:30 am that morning with an attempt to sell it for money for his personal needs.
