Foreign-invested companies have a significant demand for recruiting more Vietnamese workers in 2025, with businesses in northern Bac Giang Province leading the way, needing over 36,000 new employees.

The Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Bac Giang Province on Monday organized the first direct and online job fair, connecting workers, businesses, and training institutions from 13 northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Hai Duong, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Ha Nam, Quang Ninh, and Nam Dinh.

Following Bac Giang, companies in Phu Tho Province have about 6,500 open positions; Thai Nguyen, nearly 6,200; Ninh Binh, over 5,000; and Hanoi, around 2,600.

Taiwanese-invested Foxconn Vietnam said the company would recruit over 22,000 workers in the first quarter of 2025, while Chinese-invested Luxshare-ICT needs 40,000 and Newwing Interconnect Technology Co. Ltd. needs 11,000.

The sectors with the highest demand include electronics, information technology, textile and garment, packaging, leather shoes, processing, and manufacturing.

The majority of new positions are for unskilled or non-technical workers, while management, department head, and chief accountant positions require two to five years of experience.

Regarding salaries, the common wage is under VND7 million (US$274.2) per month, for nearly 60 percent of the positions.

Chou I-Wen, deputy general director of Foxconn Vietnam, said that the firm achieved revenue growth of more than 70 percent in 2024 and aims for 50 percent growth in 2025.

Foxconn is implementing over 10 large projects in five Vietnamese provinces and is optimistic and active in its long-term investment strategy in Vietnam.

The company's recruitment positions for the first quarter are diverse, ranging from engineers, technical specialists, and managers to productionn workers.

"We want to create opportunities for workers to work in a professional environment, with career advancement opportunities and ensuring deserving welfare policies," Chou added.

Meanwhile, Luxshare-ICT does not require applicants to pay recruitment fees. Workers who work fully in February will receive a bonus of VND1 million ($39.2) each, and another VND1 million if they complete the second month.

According to Mai Son, permanent vice-chairman of the administration in Bac Giang, the province is developing rapidly. It is among the top localities with the highest economic growth rates in Vietnam.

In 2025, the province will need about 110,000 workers to meet the production and business needs of companies and industrial zones.

To address the labor shortage, businesses, local authorities, and recruitment units are actively promoting job opportunities, working conditions, and welfare policies for workers, said Son.

In 2024, working teams led by provincial leaders visited districts and universities to enhance cooperation, aiming to recruit workers to Bac Giang.

Son recommended that labor-related agencies continue to monitor recruitment needs, expand online job consultation models, and apply technology and artificial intelligence in job introduction.

Bac Giang will continue to accompany businesses and workers in perfecting policies, improving the investment environment, promoting digital transformation in labor management, and supporting businesses to make recruitment quicker and more convenient.

Nguyen Xuan Son, director of the Bac Giang Employment Service Center, claimed that over the past three years, businesses have expanded investment, creating a demand for recruitment to meet production orders.

This creates a competitive space for new workers selecting a company, requiring the offer to have a good salary, welfare benefits, working conditions, and low retention.
