A preschool built entirely of recycled plastics, the first of its kind in Vietnam, was put into operation in mountainous Muong Khuong District of northern Lao Cai Province on Friday.

This special school was opened to local kids following an inauguration ceremony conducted by the district administration, the Vietnam Women’s Union, and Hanoi-based Investment and Trade Consulting Company Limited (INTRACO).

Located in Ngai Phong Cho Hamlet in Muong Khuong’s Cao Son Commune, the school is situated on over 1,000 square meters, has three classrooms, two functional rooms and a kitchen, being capable of serving around 100 students.

As the first educational facility made totally of recycled plastics in Vietnam, the school helped reduce emission of 115 tons of this kind of material, spreading a strong call for everybody to join hands in environmental protection.

Highly appreciating the significant of the school to Cao Son, a disadvantageous location in the district, chairwoman of the women’s union, Ha Thi Nga, hoped that there will be more similar works for children in mountainous, remote and extremely difficult areas like Cao Son.

Such schools will not only bring happiness to children and their parents in disadvantageous locations but also convey a significant environmental message, Nga commented.    

She believed that this green school model will be multiplied widely not only in Lao Cai but also in other localities across the country in the future.
