A Vietnamese fishing boat was operating off Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago last week when it was attacked and robbed by an unidentified speedboat.
The People’s Committee in Binh Chau Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province announced the report on the incident on Saturday.
At around 10:00 pm on September 9, fishing boat QNg 90962 hailing from Quang Ngai was operating about 40 nautical miles off Da Tien Nu (Pigeon Reef) in Truong Sa when it was approached by a group of unidentified people on a speedboat.
These people then boarded the fishing boat and threatened the crew members.
They rummaged through the boat and took four fishing nets and four flashlights.
Before leaving, they fired a shot at the fishing boat, injuring a 52-year-old crew member.
