A heavy rain flooded a section of a main road, sweeping many motorcycles away and leaving one person missing in Dinh Quan District, Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam on Friday evening.
Rescuers were still searching for the missing person late on the night.
The rain started at 5:40 pm and lasted until 7:20 pm, according to Nguyen Phuoc Huy - director of the Dong Nai Hydro-meteorological Station.
Some areas recorded a rainfall of up to 111mm while other places had moderate rain.

The downpour caused a flash flood that washed away motorbikes on a section of Provincial Road 763.
“Around 7:00 pm, the flood water began to overflow the road,” said Khanh Xuan, a local.
“As the water was flowing fast, I dared not to cross the road.
“I tried to warn many people against crossing the road, but some still did and had their motorbikes swept away.”

Two motorcyclists were washed away while trying to cross the water flow, according to Xuan.
One of them managed to hold to a gate, while the other went unaccounted for.

About one hour later, the flood gradually receded, allowing some large vehicles to escort motorbikes along the flooded section.
Different sections on National Highway 20 in Dinh Quan and Thong Nhat Districts were also inundated.
