A trough is forecast to bring rains to southern Vietnam, while an enhanced cold front will lower temperatures in northern provinces this week.
The trough is expected to form around Wednesday night and will likely cause rains in southern localities, including Ho Chi Minh City, over the next few days, according to the southern hydro-meteorological station.
The downpours will occur mainly in the afternoon and evening and will be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Southern Vietnam is expected to enter another period of medium to heavy rains within November.
Local residents are also advised to watch out for the strong northeast monsoon and big waves along the coast from Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province to Ca Mau Province.
It is expected to be cloudy and partly sunny in southern Vietnam on Wednesday, but showers may occur in the evening and at night.
The average temperatures will range from 22 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the cold front in northern provinces is expected to strengthen between Thursday night and Friday morning, the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting reported.
It will result in cold and rainy weather in the region starting Friday.
The cold spell will also bring medium and heavy rains to several north-central provinces.
It will remain sunny with no chance of rain in northern Vietnam on Wednesday, with mercury ranging from 17 to 31 degrees Celsius.
