Authorities in Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Lam Dong have rejected a project to develop two seven-story basement parking garages beneath Cu Hill in Da Lat, a well-known tourist city in the province, Le Quang Trung, director of the provincial Department of Construction, said on Saturday.
In other words, Lam Dong Province will not adjust its planning for an entertainment-resort complex and a shopping center at Cu Hill, including two parking garages.
The project was proposed by Hoang Gia Da Lat Company, the investor of a golf course at the hill, but it was not appropriate, Trung said.
The company proposed using 12.2 hectares of land near the Xuan Huong Lake to make room for the project.

Despite backing the company’s idea, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong and other authorities realized that the project might cause a negative impact on the surrounding landscapes, Trung said.
The provincial People’s Committee had earlier said that it basically endorsed the idea to develop the project and assigned the Department of Construction to conduct further steps without changing the natural terrain and the landscape of the Cu Hill golf course and affecting forests and the connection with Tran Quoc Toan Street leading to the Xuan Huong Lake.
However, if the underground parking garages are developed, many trees will be cut down and the initial status quo of the area cannot be restored.
Therefore, the project is unfeasible.
