-- One of the trains for the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro Line, the first of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City, underwent a trial run on a 12.3-kilometer section at 50 kilometers per hour on Wednesday.

-- More than 70 unlawfully-built apartments at the popular Muong Thanh hotel and Son Tra luxury apartment complex in Da Nang City, central Vietnam have started to be dismantled after over six years since the illegal construction was found.

-- Police in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam on Wednesday announced that they arrested a man who allegedly smashed the windows of several cars parked on streets to steal assets. He was caught hiding in the southern region.

-- The Ministry of Transport has proposed the prime minister establish a plane accident probe committee to investigate a tourist helicopter crash in northern Vietnam in early April.

-- Police in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam detained several traffic inspectors of the provincial Department of Transport over alleged bribe taking on Wednesday.

-- Investigators of the Ministry of Public Security have cracked down on a human organ trading ring, arresting two suspects.

Politics

-- Ho Chi Minh City Party chief Nguyen Van Nen and a high-ranking delegation of the city are set to visit Russia in June 2023 to attend the inauguration ceremony of the statue of Vietnam’s late State President Ho Chi Minh in Saint Petersburg City, heard his reception for Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko on Wednesday morning.

Business

-- Over 60 percent of the Japanese firms active in Vietnam are weighing their business and production expansion in the Southeast Asian country in the next one or two years, Matsumoto Nobuyuki, chief representative of the Japan External Trade Organization in Ho Chi Minh City, told a conference on orientation for industrial development in the city on Wednesday.

-- Bac Giang Province in northern Vietnam is set to export some 1,500 tons of lychees to the United States, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
