A Vietnamese nurse’s aid in Phu Tho Province, northern Vietnam has been accused of secretly putting rat poison into leftovers, killing several of her colleague’s animals.
The incident took place at a Hung Vuong - Chan Mong general clinic, under Hung Vuong General Hospital, according to a statement given on Thursday by a hospital representative.
According to the statement, H. and D., a married couple working at the medical clinic, often brought leftovers from the facility home to feed their domestic animals.
At the beginning of the week, H. discovered that some of her family’s cats, dogs, and pigs were either sick or had died.
The situation worsened on Tuesday when his dogs and cats, as well as several other animals in the neighborhood, started foaming at the mouth and died after being fed leftovers from the clinic.
H. began to suspect that the leftovers were poisoned and reported the issue to the clinic’s leader.
The security unit at the clinic inspected the food, the preparation process, and the water supply but found no abnormalities.
The clinic then checked its CCTV camera footage and discovered that the nurse’s aid, P.T.N., secretly put a packet of black powder into a food waste bucket there.
She then stirred the leftovers using chopsticks and left the scene.
Given the evidence, N. admitted that she did put rat poison into the food waste bucket so that H. and D. would take the poisoned leftovers home to feed their animals.
N. did not explain the motive for her actions.
The nurse’s aid was suspended following the incident.
The clinic handed over the evidence and relevant documents to local police for further investigation.
