A kindergarten teacher in Bien Hoa City, the capital of Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam, has been suspended for slapping a two-year-old boy 31 times.

The Bien Hoa Office of Education and Training on Wednesday this week said it had asked Tuoi Ngoc Kindergarten, a privately-run education facility in An Binh Ward, to report the case.

Nguyen Thi Thao, the mother of the boy, H.M.H., found bruises on his forehead and cheeks after picking up him from the kindergarten on Wednesday last week.

She called Nguyen Thi Bich Huong, the head teacher of her son’s class, to ask about reasons and was told that she had beaten the boy during lunch.

Police in An Binh Ward later checked the camera footage at the school and found that Huong beat and slapped the boy’s cheeks and forehead 31 times.

While Huong slapped the boy, another teacher was in the classroom and witnessed her act but did nothing to prevent it.
