The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has announced the conversion of Nguyen Binh Khiem and Yersin Streets in the downtown area into one-way thoroughfares.
As per the announcement, the section of Nguyen Binh Khiem Street from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street will become one-way only starting 8:00 am on Saturday.
Vehicles are advised to take two alternative routes as below:
Route 1: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street → Dinh Tien Hoang Street → Dien Bien Phu Street → Nguyen Binh Khiem Street.
Route 2: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street → Dinh Tien Hoang Street → Nguyen Van Thu Street → Nguyen Binh Khiem Street.
Starting at 8:00 am on June 9, vehicles are only allowed on Yersin Street in one direction from Pham Ngu Lao Street to Tran Hung Dao Street.
They can make a detour by taking Tran Hung Dao Street, then Nguyen Thi Nghia Street and Pham Ngu Lao Street or Tran Hung Dao Street, then Quach Thi Trang Roundabout to Pham Ngu Lao Street.
The transport department will also place an additional median strip on Ton Duc Thang Street to block the left-turn into Nguyen Du Street in order to alleviate traffic congestion.
As a result, vehicles that want to travel from Ba Son Bridge to Nguyen Du Street must continue on Ton Duc Thang Street to Le Duan Boulevard and make a U-turn there.
After a one-month trial period, local authorities will assess the traffic situation and make appropriate adjustments accordingly.
