-- The Slovak government on Wednesday officially recognized the Vietnamese community as the country’s 14th ethnic minority group and approved regulations for the community, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Ho Chi Minh City reported 287 new cases of hand-foot-mouth disease from May 29 to June 4, soaring over 133 percent against the average of the last four weeks, at 123 cases, according to the municipal Center for Disease Control.

-- Three family members in southern Tay Ninh Province were hospitalized for food poisoning treatment on Tuesday, after they ate mushrooms stir-fried with sponge gourds, with the husband confirmed dead and his wife in critical condition.

– The administration of southern Dong Thap Province has earmarked VND76 billion (US$3.2 million) for a project of conserving and raising a group of 100 red-crowned cranes in the next decade in an attempt to protect biodiversity.

-- Hanoi has decided to suspend a park project called Sanrio Hello Kitty World Hanoi by BRG in a prime location in Tay Ho District, citing the project developer, BRG Group, no longer allowed to use the project location, as the main reason.

-- As of 8:30 pm on Thursday, the Vietnamese delegation pocketed 66 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals, ranking third in the medal tally after Indonesia and Thailand at the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- European Union ministers agreed on Thursday on how to share out the responsibility for looking after migrants and refugees, after 12 hours of negotiations got Italy and Greece to sign up to a deal that has eluded the bloc for nearly a decade, according to Reuters.

-- Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been indicted by a federal grand jury for retaining classified government documents and obstruction of justice, according to a source familiar with the matter, Reuters reported.
