The administration in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, a neighboring province to Ho Chi Minh City, is coming up with new products to meet the demands of travelers from world-class markets known for high travel spending.
The provincial Tourism Association and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Thursday organized a trip to survey tourist attractions in the province, including the Memorial House of Heroic Marty Vo Thi Sau, the Ca Ong (Lord Whale) cemetery where over 500 whale bodies are buried, and Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau, to collect opinions and suggestions from tourism experts and enterprises to improve the province’s tourism products.
The province has issued a resolution on high-quality tourism development with an aim to boost the effectiveness of tourism infrastructure facilities and the quality of tourism products and services in a modern and fresh manner, said Pham Ba Phuc, a representative of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Tourism Association.
Many high-end tourist projects in the province have wooed visitors across the country. However, the province needs more outstanding services compared to other coastal localities in order to lure travelers with deep pockets.
On the way from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province tourists can stop to have breakfast at the Quoc ‘hu tieu’ (rice noodles) and ‘banh canh’ (rice spaghetti) restaurant which is over 30 years old. The restaurant is must-visit venue in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. |
The Ho Tram tourism strip in the province had earlier been known as a venue for casino services. The provincial authorities now want to develop sport tourism in the same area.
With the advantage of the Vung Tau golf course, one of the most beautiful golf facilities in the world, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has a plan to develop a charter airport to welcome wealthy tourists.
Phan Yen Ly, a tourism expert, said wellness tourism products can be a highlight of the province’s tourism. The province can exploit Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau to develop MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism.
“If Ho Chi Minh City has medical tourism, Ba Ria-Vung Tau can also foster wellness tourism services. Resorts also need doctors who can provide advice to tourists,” Ly added.
Enterprises participating in the trip to Ba Ria-Vung Tau agreed that the province can take advantage of its tourism infrastructure, including roads, waterways, and high-end hotels and resorts.
However, it still needs more products to retain travelers.
