The People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region officially put the general hospital with 700 beds into operation on Friday.
Work on the hospital started in April 2018, with a total capital of over VND1.7 trillion (US$72.1 million).
The hospital covers a floor area of 55,650 square meters, and features various in-depth treatment departments to serve inpatients and outpatients.
Doan Tan Buu, director of the Dong Thap Province Department of Health, said that the Dong Thap general hospital would offer numerous techniques for intensive therapeutic intervention to meet the needs of patients, mainly severely ill ones.
“Among treatment measures applied by the hospital are percutaneous coronary intervention, chemotherapy, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and interventional endoscopy,” Buu said.
Specially, the hospital will offer a series of training courses to advance medical workforce, he added.
Pham Thien Nghia, chairman of the Dong Thap administration, said that the hospital would make life easier for residents to access advanced medical equipment and intensive treatment and checkup services, leading to a decrease in referrals. Accordingly, patients will save much time and costs.
