A 64-year-old patient died after falling from the eighth floor to the third floor of a hospital in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam on Saturday.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Trung Quoc, a senior police officer, confirmed on Monday evening that the death of the female patient showed no sign of a crime, after local investigators probed into it.

The patient, named N., residing in the provincial capital city of Cao Lanh, was found dead after her fall at around 4:30 am on Saturday.

The city’s police officers teamed up with relevant units to examine the body of the victim and concluded that she suffered multiple injuries, acute respiratory failure, and serious traumatic brain injury.

The police officers then handed over the body of the victim to her family.

She was previously admitted to the Dong Thap General Hospital’s endocrinology department last Friday for diabetes treatment.

When she was in medical treatment at the hospital, she did not have a caregiver, exhibited signs of depression, and did not sleep at night, according to a police report.
