Up to three storms and tropical depressions are forecast to lash the East Vietnam Sea this month, affecting the northern and north-central regions, according to the national weather center.
Tropical convergence strips might develop into tropical depressions and storms in the East Vietnam Sea, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Specially, these strips accompanied by the southwest monsoon will cause strong winds and high waves in the waters off Vietnam.
As such, the national weather center advises fishermen to work carefully and keep a close eye on up-to-date weather information.
A storm, internationally known as Khanun, is battering the waters east of Taiwan.
Storm Khanun is strengthening, with strong winds of 50 meters per second and gusts of 70 meters per second, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
This month, the northern region will also experience heatwaves and some heavy rains, while the central region is forecast to suffer hot weather until mid-August.
Average temperatures in the two regions in August might be 0.5-1 degree Celsius higher than the average level of previous years.
Rainfall in northern Vietnam in August is forecast to be 10-25 percent lower than average.
The southwest monsoon will give rise to showers and thunderstorms in the Central Highlands and southern regions this month.
The national weather center forecasts that the northern region will face downpours from now until Thursday with rainfall estimated at up to 170 millimeters.
In early August, the Central Highlands and southern regions will be hit by moderate to heavy rain with precipitation of up to 150 millimeters in the afternoons and evenings.
The East Vietnam Sea was battered by two storms, Talim and Doksuri, in July, according to the national weather center.
