A 32-year-old Vietnamese man has been sentenced to five years and six months behind bars for acting as an intermediary in a high-class prostitution ring which employed models and actresses in Ho Chi Minh City.
The municipal People’s Court imposed the sentence on Le Hoang Long, a native of the northern port city of Hai Phong, on Wednesday.
Last year, police officers raided a hotel on Nguyen Hue Street in District 1 at around 1:30 am on August 25.
Two couples were caught exchanging money for sexual services in two separate rooms on the 23rd floor.
Police officers then booked Long for brokering those services.
Long admitted that he met the two clients in early August last year via his circle of friends.
On August 21, the two clients asked Long to supply them with two prostitutes who were either models or actresses.
After they reached a deal, Long convinced T.T.M.D., a 28-year-old actress and model, and T.T.T.T., a 23-year-old model, to offer the clients sex services for US$15,000 per night per person.
Long expected to recieve a 50-percent commission, while the rest would be used to cover fees for dining, accommodation, travel services, and payment for the prostitutes.
Each of the two clients agreed to pay Long VND100 million ($4,174) as a deposit for the deal.
On August 24, Long visited the above-mentioned hotel to book two rooms for VND15 million ($626).
Long was caught while waiting for the two couples to finish their time together.
The trial panel said that Long’s acts violated social ethics and adversely affected social order.
Therefore, he must be strictly sanctioned to act as a deterrent to others.
