-- Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday hosted a reception for a high-level delegation led by President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez at the Office of the Party Central Committee in Hanoi, affirming that Vietnam always attaches much significance to the close relationship with Cuba. 

-- Newly-appointed EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier highly valued Vietnam’s efforts to strictly and fully implement the European Commission (EC)’s recommendations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, expecting a warning issued by the EC to the country involved in IUU fishing to be lifted as soon as possible, heard a press briefing in Hanoi on Wednesday.

-- U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper and his entourage on Wednesday visited the Kim Lien relic site in Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam, which retains many objects and documents associated with late President Ho Chi Minh’s childhood.

-- State President Vo Van Thuong has prompted Binh Phuoc Province, located in southern Vietnam, to ensure defense and security, while boosting socioeconomic development and improving the quality of life for residents, mainly ethnic minority groups.

-- A prolonged downpour triggered by a tropical depression in the East Vietnam Sea is inundating nearly 1,200 houses in Nghe An Province, while tens of thousands of students in neighboring Thanh Hoa Province had to stay home on Wednesday due to floods.

-- Vietnam ranks 46th among 132 countries in the Global Innovation Index 2023, released by the World Intellectual Property Organization in Switzerland on Wednesday (Vietnam time), up two places from last year.

-- Over 400 exhibitors from 17 countries and territories are joining the 21st Vietnam International Printing and Packaging Industry Exhibition (VietnamPrintPack 2023), which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, to sound out investment and cooperation opportunities.

-- The People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province in southern Vietnam and the Vietnam Railways on Wednesday debuted an international multimodal transport train which transports goods for export from Song Than Station to China.

-- Bridgestone Vietnam, a Japanese tire manufacturer, announced on Wednesday that it would shift to the use of renewable energy in its production process to turn out eco-friendly products.
