-- The health authority in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam has reported the second monkeypox case who is a 19-year-old resident in the provincial city of Thuan An, a local health official confirmed on Friday.

-- Two local children, aged three and 10, have succumbed to dengue fever and hand, foot, mouth disease in two different districts in Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam, the provincial Department of Health announced on Friday.

-- Local households engaging in lobster and oyster farming in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam are reeling under losses following mass lobster and oyster deaths during two days starting from September 21, the provincial animal husbandry and veterinary sub-department said on Friday.

-- Multiple Vietnamese provinces, cities and the waters in the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea are expected to experience heavy downpours on Saturday, in addition to possible flash floods and landslides in some northern mountainous provinces such as Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, said the national weather center.

-- The first phase of the Cao Lanh-An Huu expressway project, linking Dong Thap Province with Tien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, has faced a cost overrun of VND1.936 trillion (US$79.2 million), according to the Ministry of Transport.

-- Vietnamese retail giant Saigon Co.op said on Thursday it will take legal action to protect its supermarket brand Co.opmart whose logo was found in an Asian supermarket in Australia, despite the fact that the retailer neither franchised this brand to any business nor made investment overseas.

-- The administration of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region is set to start work on the Tan Phu-Bao Loc expressway project, which will connect Lam Dong with neighboring Dong Nai Province, in the final quarter this year, after missing the deadline to break ground on the project last month, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- A bus crash in the south of Mexico on Friday killed 16 Venezuelan and Haitian migrants and left 27 others injured, Reuters cited state authorities as saying in a revised statement.

-- At least 42 people were killed after a glacial lake burst its banks and triggered flash floods in the Indian Himalayas this week, government officials said on Friday as rescuers kept searching for almost 150 missing, Reuters reported.
