Authorities in Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City are verifying a video showing a female photo model standing on the footboards of her motorcycle and letting go of both hands while riding the vehicle on a local street, an official said on Sunday.
The video that went viral on social media also showed that the woman sometimes put both legs to one side of the vehicle, knelt on the saddle, and rode the vehicle with one hand, posing a high risk of traffic accidents.
The woman named T.T.N.T., a popular photo model, uploaded the video on her social media page on September 24.
The video was later shared to many forums and groups.
Nguyen Van Kien, chairman of the People’s Committee of Thu Thiem Ward, confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday that the video was recorded on a street in the ward.
Kien said the ward had been informed of the case and asked relevant agencies to cooperate with Thu Duc City authorities to verify and handle it.
The street section in the video is in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area. The road is under the management of Dai Quang Minh Corporation.
The ward has asked Dai Quang Minh Corporation to detach security guards to enhance patrols in the area, Kien added
As the road is an internal route of a residential development and has yet to be handed over to the city for management, traffic police officers have no foundation to fine the photo model, a leader of the Thu Duc traffic-security police team said.
However, the team has regularly coordinated with relevant agencies in Thu Thiem Ward to patrol and ask commuters not to do a wheelie or weave in and out in the area.
