The Ho Chi Minh City administration has publicized images of the architectural design featuring nipa palm leaf imagery for a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River.
The design was proposed by a consortium of Japanese-invested Chodai - Takashi Niwa Architects and Chodai Kisojiban Vietnam.
The design got the highest score in a contest launched in 2019 to choose an architectural design for a pedestrian bridge spanning the Saigon River.

The pedestrian bridge will be located between Ba Son Bridge and Saigon River Tunnel.
One end of the bridge will be at Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1 and the other end will be in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in Thu Duc City.
With the design of the nipa palm leaf imagery, piers will be built near the riverside to create a high vertical clearance, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture assesses the design as special, impressive, simple, and attractive to local residents and tourists while its investment is feasible and reasonable. |

The space under the bridge will be a venue for local residents’ entertainment activities. |
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee requires the detailed design of the footbridge to meet technique and safety requirements and match the surrounding landscapes and planning. |
