Police in Tuy Hoa City under Phu Yen Province, located in south-central Vietnam, on Wednesday pressed charges against a woman for illicitly transporting 11 rare species, including pangolins, king cobras, and Indian rat snakes.
A police officer of the municipal investigative police agency said on the same day that the woman was identified as Le Thi Du, a 39-year-old resident of Hoa Dinh Tay Commune in Phu Hoa District under the province.
She allegedly committed violations of endangered and rare animal protection.
Police forces caught Du red-handed riding with 11 animals suspected of being rare and endangered species on Thursday last week.
The police seized these live animals, including two Javan pangolins, a king cobra, an Indian rat snake, five agamid lizards, and two large-toothed ferret-badgers.
These confiscated species were handed over to the Center for Creature Rescue, Conservation and Development at Cuc Phuong National Park in northern Vietnam.
